An absolute must-see highlight of our Tiny Art Exhibit at West Edge Factory is a collection of three Zeitgeist Houses by artist Ellie Schaul.
The Zeitgeist House Project began in 1984 with the purchase of a handcrafted dollhouse from a church yard sale. Ellie invited artists she had collaborated with through the years as Director of The Art Store in Charleston to contribute original miniature works. By 2014, the house had become a full miniature museum. Ellie later added two more houses—one built from scratch and one reworked from another dollhouse.
Together, these three Zeitgeist Houses contain nearly one hundred tiny, intricate works of art.
Ellie Schaul is one of West Virginia’s most enduring artists, and we are thrilled to host her work in the Turret Gallery and welcome her for a special artist talk about these unique miniature museums.
